Riverview Residence
The Riverview House is a striking reinvention of a 1915 Portland cottage, thoughtfully restored and reimagined after years of neglect. What was once a structure in disrepair has been transformed into a refined, modern residence that honors its original character while embracing a distinctly contemporary architectural language.
Navigating a series of complex site and development challenges, iBuildPdx approached the project with both precision and creativity, ultimately delivering a home that feels seamlessly integrated into its natural surroundings. The redesign prioritizes a deep connection to the Willamette River and the distant mountain range, creating a living experience that is both serene and visually dynamic.
At the heart of the home is a clean, modern open floor plan that guides residents effortlessly from the lower-level entry to the expansive upper-level living space. This vertical progression enhances both flow and function, while maximizing light and views at every turn. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap the east-facing elevation, framing uninterrupted vistas of the river and flooding the interiors with natural light throughout the day.
Extending from the main living area, the upper-level balcony serves as a defining feature of the home, an elevated vantage point that captures sweeping, panoramic views both up and down the river. The result is a residence that not only reflects thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship, but also offers a profound sense of place, where architecture and landscape exist in perfect harmony.
